The purpose of stage make-up is to make dancers more visible from a distance. The stage lights can wash out faces. As we are working with children, we strive for simple, natural make up on all.
Dancers must use the designated studio colors for lipstick, blush, & eye shadow. These are available through the studio at a nominal price.
Dancers under 12 may wear mascara if tolerated. All older dancer must wear it.
No eye liner on dancers under 12 as it actually makes their eyes look smaller. Older dancers should use it in a natural line- no "wings".
Eye shadow is applied on the lid only for all.
Foundation is usually not necessary but may be worn by older dancers only.
If your child has a make up allergy, be sure to let your Dance Mom know.
It takes a lot of make up for it to be visible. Dressers will touch up as needed.
Make up on male dancers is optional.
Hair is to be worn in a tight bun- see video above- with all fly aways slicked back & no bangs.
If your group needs a different hairstyle, your Dance Mom will let you know.
No jewelry, fancy barrettes or any other accessories are permitted unless they are part of your costume.
This included pierced earrings. Leave your jewelry at home. We are not responsible for lost or missing items.
No nail polish. Dressers will remove this.
You will receive new tights or socks with your costume.
You will wear these for Picture Day & Dress Rehearsal but do not use them for class until after the show.
Emergancy tights are available during the show.
For the sake of modesty, all dancers in 2 or more dances, must wear a nude body liner under their costumes.
Underpants may NOT be worn under any costume worn with tights.
If you do not wear tights with your costume, please find the tiniest panties you can (or don't wear any) and make sure they don't stick out!
If they show, they will need to come off. Most dancers do not wear underpants!
If you have questions about any of the above, check with you Dance Mom, she will help you.
We are known for the professional quality of our shows.
Uniformity, even down to lipstick color, is an important part of this.
We want to present our dancers in the best light possible! They have worked hard & deserve our BEST!
Do NOT wear your costume or dance shoes to or from the show,
change in the dressing area only.
We do not want to see dancers getting in or out of cars with costumes on. Not only is this extremely unprofessional
but costumes will get wrinkled & dirty this way.
DO put on your tights & liner at home.
When transporting your costumes, cover them with a garment bag or a clean trash bag with your name on it.
Make sure that each costume, shoe, headpiece, etc., has your name on it. Your costumes must be on a hangers & you need a small suitcase or bag (ziplocks are great) for your shoes & accessories.
You should also have your own make up & hair supplies. It is helpful to use a laundry basket to drop your costumes & accessories as you take them off. You can sort them out later.
Keep the dressing area neat. Keep all your things together in one place. Do not touch anyone else's costumes or belongings. Be sure to clean up your space at the end of each performance.
The information on this page is necessary so that we might have the best possible show & performance experience. Many long, hard, loving hours have gone into this performance. With all dancers, parents & friends cooperating , our show will be all that we have worked for.
We are known for the professional quality of our performances and we intend to uphold that reputation & give our fabulous dancers the recognition they deserve.
It is not possible to both be IN a show and also WATCH the show.
All dancers must remain backstage in the dressing areas
throughout the show. Don't worry though- they have lots of fun backstage with their dance friends & all the excitement being generated.
Good manners are expected back stage and in the dressing areas. Dancers must remain quiet and where they belong.
Each dancer is expected to respect and obey the dressers and crew. Be helpful to each other. Dancers MUST arrive on time. This is also expected of parents. Anyone not being respectful may be dismissed from the performance.
This can be a high stress time for some but regardless, do NOT lose sight of the fact that this is all about the kids & making it the BEST possible experience for THEM.
If you have any problems or questions, please remember to see your Dance Mom. She will take good care of you.
Please read the handouts. Please read your emails.
Please remember that this is ALL ABOUT THE KIDS.
We respectfully request that adults remain calm backstage & in the dressing areas.
Everyone is doing their best to showcase our wonderful dancers & additional stress is not helpful.
Please co-operate with the information you have been given to make this show run as smoothly & as stress free as possible for everyone.
Thanks for all your help & support to make this show possible for our wonderful dancers.
You have a huge share in the success of this performance & we all want the very best for our beautiful, hard-working dancers.
It’s another FABULOUS show!
